Pet Quality versus Show Quality...?

We at A Cavalier Adventure sell both "Pet Quality" and "Show Quality" dogs. The difference in the type of dog you purchase (and, consequently, the price of your puppy) is determined by how you intend to raise your dog. If you just want a pet for your home, then you want to buy a Pet Quality pup, and the price for these will generally be lower than the Show Quality dogs.

If, on the other hand, you intend to breed and show your dog, then you will want to purchase a Show Quality puppy, and the price will be a bit higher than the Pet Quality dogs. Understand, though, if you buy a Show Quality dog, we will probably release the puppy to you when it is around 8 weeks old, and we will have no idea how well it will look or show when it is an adult. Therefore, we consider the phrase "Show Quality" to mean that the dog has considerable show potential, but we obviously cannot guarantee that the adult will show well.

There is, however, absolutely no difference as to the amount of love, pampering, and health care we give each type of dog!

This is our guarantee to you (please pardon the legaleese):

Guarantee For Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Puppies

All Cavaliers bred and sold by A Cavalier Adventure will be guaranteed to be healthy when sold, and free from life-threatening congenital defects until one year of age:

I.) If within the first year, a puppy is found to have a life-threatening congenital defect, send a detailed letter of explanation from your licensed veterinarian as to the nature of the defect and how it was found. We will then have our veterinarian examine this letter for his concurrence. If the puppy is found to have a life-threatening congenital defect, you may choose to return the puppy to us with all registration papers. The dog will be replaced with a similar dog (pet quality or show quality) at no cost to you; or, if a replacement puppy will not be available within a year, your money will be refunded to you. All veterinarian expenses incurred to diagnose and/or treat the defect while the dog is in the Buyer's care will be at the Buyer's expense.

If this dog is bred and whelps a litter prior to one year of age, all guarantees are null and void.

II.) All puppies purchased from A Cavalier Adventure must be taken to the Buyer's veterinarian within the first three (3) days after receiving the dog. If this is not done, the health guarantee becomes invalid and Buyer will assume all responsibility for the health of the puppy. (It should be noted that diarrhea is common among puppies that have been moved to a new environment. This is normal and is not covered under the health guarantee. This will subside as the puppy gets used to its new home and surroundings.) It is necessary for the Buyer to complete the schedule of inoculations on-time in order to protect the puppy's health, and for the guarantee to remain valid. We recommend that you consult your veterinarian early about the prevention of heartworms in your puppy. It is expected that the Buyer will be willing to have yearly exams including heartworm detection, fecal examinations, and all vaccinations required by your veterinarian.

III.) All our Cavaliers are vet-checked and up to date on their shots. They are guaranteed to be in good health at the time of departure from our home. If a puppy is found by the Buyer to be ill within the first three (3) days, you may return it to us for another puppy or, if one is not available, a full refund. Again, we will require a statement from your veterinarian indicating what the nature of the illness is. Our veterinarian's review and concurrence is required for exchange or refund.

IV.) Please be advised that until your puppy has had its full set of inoculations, it is susceptible to certain illnesses, and therefore should be kept out of areas where other dogs (and other animals) have been. This would include parks, pet stores, and even neighbor's yards. While at the vet, keep your puppy on your lap or in a crate, away from other animals and off the floor where sick animals have been. When your veterinarian tells you the shots are complete and your puppy is immune, you can begin to show off your new family member.

V.) We have worked hard to ensure that these dogs are of the highest quality. There are no known problems with our bloodlines, and it is highly unlikely that you will experience any problems with your new dog. Nevertheless, we would encourage all new owners to keep us informed of any problems that occur with the dog throughout its lifetime. We very much like to stay in touch with our new owners. If we ever find a problem with a bloodline, those dogs will not be bred again.

VI.) We also ask that at any time during the lifetime of your Cavalier, should you find that you are no longer able to care for your dog or give it the quality of care it deserves, that you would advise us so that we can either take the dog back or give you assistance in finding it a new home. This applies regardless of the age of the dog. Please do not give the Cavalier away or send it to the Pound.

VII.) As Sellers, we obviously cannot be held responsible for any acts of the puppy after it leaves our premises. Seller assumes no responsibility for the care or protection of puppy after it leaves our premises. We also have no responsibility for medical expenses incurred, Land Lord's disapproval, family's allergy to animal, disagreement of family members, and other events beyond our control. We make no guarantee as the adult size or quality of the puppy.

VIII.) Registration Papers: If you are purchasing a registered dog for breeding, your papers will be given to you at the time of purchase. If you are purchasing a dog for a pet, the papers will be shown to you at the time of purchase and mailed to you when the proof of spay/neuter is mailed to us. Hopefully, this will be within 5-6 months. Contact the AKC to see the time period that you can register your dog without a penalty.

FORMS OF PAYMENT:

A non-refundable deposit of $300.00 is required to hold a puppy for you. This can be sent by personal check. The deposit will be refunded only if we are unable to fill your request. With this deposit, we can only hold your puppy until two (2) weeks after the date it is deemed ready to leave our home (usually when the puppy is 7 - 8 weeks of age). If you have not completed the purchase or made other arrangements with us by that time, you will lose your deposit.

Puppy orders are filled in the order the deposits come in. If we do not have enough puppies in the litter to fill your order, your money will be refunded. Please understand that these dogs are in very high demand. If you should change your mind about purchasing a puppy after you have sent in your deposit, be advised that we will not be able refund your money. When you come to pick up your puppy, the full price of the dog (minus the deposit amount) will need to be paid before you can take your dog home. This payment should be in cash or a cashier's check. (We reserve the right to ensure that a cashier's check will clear the bank before releasing a puppy.) If you send a personal check, it must clear the bank before the puppy can go home with you. Therefore, you should send us a personal check at least 2 weeks before you come to pick up your puppy, in order to be sure your check has cleared.

If you have ordered a Show Quality puppy, you will be provided AKC registration papers for your dog when you pick it up. If you have ordered a registered Pet Quality puppy, your AKC registration papers will be sent to you after you send us written proof that you have either spayed or neutered your dog.

Email us for pricing on our little ones. Note that, from time to time, our purchase agreement and deposit agreements may change slightly, so please read and understand each carefully, prior to purchase. Please be sure to email us for a deposit agreement form, prior to sending in your deposit.

SHIPPING:

We really prefer not to ship our puppies. Air travel is a little scary for the little ones, and we would very much rather have you come by in person and pick up your puppy. We really like to meet our potential new owners, take your picture for our scrapbook, and get to know you. If it is necessary to ship the puppy, we will make every effort to get your puppy to you in the most convenient and safe way possible. Shipping is somewhere around an extra $250.00.

These dogs have lived in our home almost all of their lives, and have been pampered by our family. They have had a regular and strict schedule of veterinary examinations, which are documented and available for your review. It is extremely unlikely that you will have any health problems with any of our dogs.

If at anytime in the future you should decide that you are unable to continue to care for your Cavalier, please do not give it away or send it to the pound. Contact us and we will arrange for you to return the dog to us, where we can care for it for the rest of it's life.
